You could try making this "Welly Dug" on one of these long winter nights when there is nothing else to do and you're feeling a bit creative. I think you'll need eight wellies or four pairs. But if all your wellies are left feet your dog might look slightly odd. So might you with only right footed wellies to wear...

If you're feeling really creative, have lots of time and an endless supply of welly boots perhaps you could try this...
Wouldn't that look great in your garden? *

Brilliant. I can't say I've got any old wellies lying around so don't think I'll be creating my own. Visited the Kelvingrove for the first time last year and loved it.
ReplyDeleteEr, well. They made me laugh, Janet but I think they probably look great in someone else's garden (I'm still laughing though).
ReplyDeleteDave
Aren't there some clever people out there. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWellywoman, I hought you would be the ideal person to be taking this on...
ReplyDeleteDave, I don't think the Welly Dugs will be in our garden either. I'm far too tasteful for that... not so sure about P.
Elaine, if only we could think of these things first..
Oh what fun Janet - is it my imagination or are they all laughing? Feel quite inspired - there must be all sorts of possibilities but sadly a distinct lack of worn wellies might curb my creative instincts.
ReplyDeleteMaybe something equally creative could be done with old tyres - there's plenty of them around, Anna. Or does your name have to be Bob Flowerdew to take that on?
ReplyDeleteAmazing, some people have such imaginative ideas and lots of time to bring them to fruition. Think I'll stick to my carvings for the garden though! Thanks for a good laugh first thing in the morning!
ReplyDeleteThose pics made me smile!
ReplyDeleteNow that made my belly laugh for the day. How fun and cute is that.
ReplyDeleteThought the wellie-dog was one of the best things in the Kelvingrove. It made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI have a whole chest full of redundant wellies - but they are all different colours....
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this extremely creative recycling idea--it made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it made people laugh. We need to do that nowadays...
ReplyDeleteKininvie, you have the opportunity to make something very creative and multi-coloured! It doesn't get better than that. Looking forward to a post with photos soon...
I am about to get a puppy and begin to worry about the time and responsbility implications - perhaps a charge through the gardening shed with a bit of tape could be the better way to live with a dog. Always obedient, undemanding if a little rubbery. The Kelvingrove is now on my list of wishtogotos..............
ReplyDeletethanks Janet for a smiley post. Enjoyed the brilliance of the creativieness too though the redundant miner reference is somewhat salutory. Nearly all ex miners have told me they are much happier out of the mines
ReplyDeleteHa! I love what they've done with the floppy ears in the second photo. Sadly, I'm not too tasteful to want something like this for the garden... If this is just "Uses...No. 1" I can't wait for the next episode!
ReplyDeleteCatherine, you wouldn't even have to walk a welly dug! Enjoy the Kelvingrove when you get there.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure miners are healthier and happier out of the mines. On the other hand it was such a tradition in parts of the UK and we now have to ship our coal in from abroad...
Stacy, I was going to say this post was one of ten, but then I can only think of a couple of other welly boot uses. So that may be a hostage to fortune. Perhaps tyres might have a bit more mileage!
Wellie dugs rock, how utterly fab. Have they seen the telephone sheep?

I have seen them Fay, although it would be great if they could all be properly introduced...
ReplyDeleteNo. Really wouldn't want them in my garden. They might chase my meercat.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I came across a pair of welly boots the other day . . . they had flowers on . . . they were lovely . . . they cost £75:00. £75:00! (I hope they are happy in the shop.)
Esther, I'm sure you could customize your own wellies with flowers or whatever....they must have been designer wellies at that price...
