  2. This actually a convolusus flower, the dreaded bindwee, which is prevalent in these parts. But the flower is a thing of great beauty. I'm off to look up marmalade fly....

  7. The little white dots on the back of the fly are presumably grains of bindweed pollen. Remarkable photo!

    I'm constantly amazed by the ability of my little Canon Ixsus 70 to take good macro photos. There are still several out of focus for every okay one and it helped that I finally spent a bit of time learning how to use the camera properly!

  10. I'm amazed sometimes too by my cameras - my little Canon Ixus takes great shots - sometimes better than the fancy-shmancy SLR camera! This is a lovely photo Janet! Well captured.
